How we help

Consultations

Doctor-led initial and follow-up consultations, in person or online. All include a letter to your GP and a prescription where clinically appropriate.

  • First appointment from £250
  • 45 min first appointment
  • In person & online

A consultation with one of our women’s health specialists is where most people start. Our doctors are GPs with specialist training in women’s health, and many are British Menopause Society (BMS) specialists. They see women with menopause and perimenopause symptoms, PMS and PMDD, early menopause, vaginal and urinary symptoms, low libido, PCOS, endometriosis and contraception questions.

Your first appointment

Your initial consultation lasts 45 minutes, so there is time to talk properly. Your specialist will:

  • take a full medical, family and medication history
  • talk through your symptoms, how they affect your life and what matters to you
  • examine you if it’s needed
  • agree a personalised plan with you, which may include HRT, non-hormonal options, tests or lifestyle changes

A private prescription, if clinically appropriate, and a letter for you and your GP are included in the fee. Medication costs are not included. We need your consent to share information with your GP.

Before you come

It helps to bring a list of your current medications, your medical history and any family history you know of. Our free menopause symptom checker is a good way to get your symptoms down on paper before you arrive.

Follow-up care

Follow-up appointments (30 minutes) are usually around three months after starting treatment, to see how it is working. Short telephone follow-ups (15 minutes) suit quick reviews. Annual reviews are needed for safe prescribing. Once you are settled on HRT, many GPs are happy to take over your prescription and annual review; if yours can’t, or you would rather stay with us, we will keep seeing you.

You can see us at any of our clinics or online, and the fee is the same either way.

In person or online

Every consultation is available by video as well as in clinic, with the same specialists, the same appointment lengths and the same care plan. Online appointments are available at times that suit you, including evenings and weekends, with no travel or waiting room. You need a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, and somewhere private to talk. If you need an examination or a procedure, we will arrange it at one of our clinics.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly, without a GP referral.

Is a prescription included?

Yes. A private prescription, where clinically appropriate, is included in your consultation fee. The medication itself is paid for separately at the pharmacy. Repeat prescriptions without an appointment are £35.

Will you write to my GP?

Yes. You will get a letter for yourself and one for your GP, with your consent.

Will I need blood tests?

Not always. Blood tests can help with diagnosis, or to check how treatment is working, and your specialist will tell you if they would help. See our blood tests for what we offer.

Should I use my HRT gel on the day of a blood test?

If you use Oestrogel, Sandrena, Androfeme, Testogel or Testim, leave out that day’s dose until after your blood has been taken.

How often will I need to be seen?

Usually a follow-up around three months after starting or changing treatment, then an annual review. Many women’s GPs take over prescribing after the three-month review.

Is an online appointment as good as seeing someone in person?

For most menopause and hormone health consultations, yes. Your specialist takes the same history and makes the same plan. If you need an examination, we will arrange it at a clinic.

What do I need for a video appointment?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection and somewhere private to talk.
