BMS-recognised specialists CQC registered No GP referral needed

Our online clinic brings the same specialists, the same 45-minute first appointment and the same care plan as our in-person clinics to wherever you are in the UK — with evening and weekend appointments that fit around work and family. Your confirmation email includes a secure video link; there is no account to create and nothing to install.

Everything that follows the appointment travels too. Where clinically appropriate, prescriptions are delivered to your door by Healistic, our partner pharmacy; blood tests can be taken at home by a visiting nurse; and your GP receives a letter after every consultation. If your specialist ever thinks you need to be examined in person, they will say so plainly — and you can be seen at one of our UK clinics.

Good to know

Which appointments can I have online?

Specialist consultations, follow-ups, gynaecology and psychotherapy all run by video. Anything that needs a physical examination or a procedure — coil fitting, smear tests, implants — happens in person at one of our clinics.

How do prescriptions work after an online appointment?

Where a prescription is clinically appropriate, it is sent to Healistic, our partner pharmacy, and delivered to your door.

Can I have blood tests without visiting a clinic?

Yes — a nurse can visit your home to take samples, and your specialist reviews the results with you. The home visit fee is listed with everything else on our pricing page.

Do online appointments cost the same as in person?

Yes — the fees are identical to our in-person clinics, and every price is published on our pricing page before you book.

Do you see patients in Scotland?

Yes. Our Aberdeen and Inverurie clinics see patients in person, and our online clinic sees women across the rest of Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, by video.

Your appointment, answered

The questions people are sometimes nervous to ask — answered honestly, start to finish.

Do I need a GP referral?

No — you can refer yourself. Book directly online or call us; there’s no need to see your GP first, and no referral letter required.

How much does it cost to see a menopause specialist?

A 45-minute first appointment with a Specialist Women’s Health GP is £250, and rises for a BMS Registered Menopause Specialist or Clinical Lead Director. Every price is published on our pricing page before you book — no hidden fees.

I’m nervous about booking — is that normal?

Completely. Many women arrive unsure whether their symptoms “count”. They do. You do not need a diagnosis, a referral, or the right words for what you are experiencing — bring it as it is and we will work it out together.

Do I need any tests or paperwork before my appointment?

No. If you can, have a note of your symptoms and any medicines or HRT you’ve tried — a symptom diary is genuinely useful but not required. Blood tests are only arranged afterwards if they’d actually change the answer, and a nurse can take them at your home.

Can someone join my appointment?

Of course — a partner, friend or relative is welcome to sit in on the call if you’d like the company or a second pair of ears.

What if I’m running late — or need to cancel?

Life happens — just call us. If you’re running late we’ll do our best to protect your appointment, and if you need to rearrange, the earlier you let us know the easier it is to offer your slot to someone else.

How do video appointments actually work?

When you book, you’ll receive a link with your confirmation. At your appointment time, you tap it — that’s it. It works on a phone, tablet or computer with a camera; there’s no account to create and nothing technical to set up. Have photo ID ready — we check it at the start of your appointment.

What if the technology goes wrong?

Then it goes wrong on our side of the desk, not yours. If a connection fails, your specialist will continue by phone — you won’t lose your appointment or your time.

Where should I be for a video appointment?

Anywhere you can speak privately for 45 minutes — a bedroom, a parked car, an office with the door shut all work. Headphones help if others are around. And it’s your appointment: pyjamas, cup of tea and the dog on your lap are all clinically approved.

Is a video appointment as good as being there?

For most menopause and hormonal health consultations, yes — the work is in the conversation and the history, and prescriptions and GP letters follow exactly as they would in person. If anything ever genuinely needs an in-person visit, your specialist will say so and help arrange it.

What happens after the appointment?

You’ll have a written plan, a prescription where clinically appropriate, and a letter to your GP so your NHS records stay joined up. Follow-ups can be booked online whenever you need one.

Will anyone know what we discussed?

Your consultation is private and confidential. The one routine exception is the letter to your GP, which keeps your medical records complete — tell your specialist if there’s anything you’d prefer handled differently, and they’ll discuss the options with you.

No referral needed, and no need to know what’s wrong before you come — that’s what the appointment is for.
